Last Flight of Captain John Janssen @ KLM

After 40 years of flying KLM Captain John Janssen made his last flight due to his retirement.

A last flight with destination Austin and back Amsterdam.

On this flight Captain John got assisted by his son Second Officer Mats Janssen and his good friend Captain Eric Hoogerheijde (operating as first officer) as his ‘Wingmen’.

Flight KL667 , callsign KLM115-Heavy and operated with a B789 Dreamliner reg PHBHN.

A pushback on stand D57 , thereafter taxying via VM for a takeoff on runway 36L.

After the landing on Austin Airport Captain John got surprised by the Austin Fire Brigade, Control Tower ánd his other son Guido on the tarmac.

When leaving the aircraft another surprise showed up with an interview by CBS Austin on camera.

Returnflight KL668, callsign KLM166-Heavy, was operated with a B777-300ER reg PHBVD.

When on final for runway 06 his colleague Captain Marc Brouwer was taxying to runway 36L to operate his retirementflight heading for Johannesburg.

And so I was still able to capture a part of John’s landing in behind of the picture.

A last landing on runway 06,with Captain Eric’s son Bas (second officer KLM) filming the landing on short final.

After vacating the runway taxying to final stand F5. Happy retirement !!!
