Captain Fernando made his last flight due to retirement at KLM.

Joined by his beloved wife Helouise and their children Capetown was the destination.

Flight KL597, callsign KLM119-Heavy, got a push & pull at stand Echo 19,

tail long pushback with tail to the tower and a pullout into Alpha 16.

So they made room for the inbound KL592 coming from ‘Joburg’.

On this flight Captain Fernando got assisted by first officer Korosh Rasaian and second officer Nader Imani Kohani as his ‘Wingmen’.

Taxying out to N5 for a nice RWY09 departure disappearing into the low cloudbase heading for Capetown.

Backflight KL598, callsign KLM104-Heavy, was an exciting one for me ( Bokito ) as videographer.

Initially they should land within 20 minutes of the other retirementflight coming from Santiago-Buenos Aires with Reinder Zwaart.

Flight KL702 was planned for RWY18R but got diverted to RWY18C. D

uring this landing Captain Fernando got a clearance by Amsterdam Radar for RWY18R.

After contacting me I got in a hurry to reacht the head of RWY18R on the Schipholweg in between of the landinglights.

It got real foggy conditions and happily Fernando was able to make a manual landing instead of using the autoland.

They appeared out of the cloud/fog just in front of me with awesome vortexes. Passing over my head, lowering across the landinglights and disappearing into the fog.

After vacating the runway taxying to cross the Center at W13 for final stand Echo 22.

Both flights got operated with a B777-300ER reg PHBVG
