Captain Carel made his final 747 flight to CUR – Curacao. Suddenly he had to operate his 747 farewell flight due to the current worldwide circumstances.
KLM decided phasing out the 747 one year ealier than planned.
Flight KL735 with callsign KLM129-Heavy heading to CUR was supported by his wingman First Officer Steve Jacobs and Second Officer Jasper Verkuijl.
RWY 24 for departure and operated with the B747-Fullpax reg PH-BFL.
Starting the takeoffroll and after postive rate and retracting the maingear saying goodbye with an awesome wingroll. During climbout a message to all 747 lovers.
He also provided the filmer with nickname Bokito (a phenomenon for KLM 747 pilots and other divisions because of his filmwork) with unique ‘Bokito Call’s’ as ‘Bokito-747’.
He was in awe…………..by hearing and recording this calls.
Backflight KL736 got operated by the B747-Fullpax reg PH-BFY. Carel’s last 747 act was a smooth crosswindlanding on RWY 18R in the early morning just before sunrise.
A 747 farewell flight never to forget……………….
