Captain Reinder Zwaart made his last flight due to retirement at KLM. Special detail is that Reinder’s wife Karina joined this flight as well and actually they retired together.

Karina did retire during the corona period as Senior Purser after a career of 35 years at KLM.

And it keeps going on with wonderful details…………..on this flight also Senior Purser Saskia van den Boogert got her retirementflight and  joined by her husband and retired KLM Captain Willem Bos.

So it’s a ‘double couple retirementflight’ heading for Santiago de Chile via Bueonos Aires.

The departure from Amsterdam should be on fridaynight the 7th of December.

Unfortunately this last flight got cancelled at 23:19pm. The engine of the B789 Dreamliner reg PHBHI could’nt get closed properly,

after 4 technicians worked on it for several hours.

What a disaster happening on this retirementflight………………

But happily KLM and Chiefpilots of the unit arranged another possibility to fly Reinder’s last flight on saturdaynight, and this time with a B777-300ER reg PHBVP.

Amen it’s gonna happen definitely.

Saturdaynight flight KL701, with first officer Maarten Erren & second officer Arjen van Iperen as his ‘Wingman’ and second officer Isabelle van Uden as his ‘Wingwoman’ .

Pushback on stand Echo 20 , and a RWY24 – VALK3S departure.

Backflight KL702 got a different couple of second officers.

On this flight Garrit Gaari and Barry Bronk assisted as ‘Wingmen’ next to FO Maarten.

KL702 with special callsign of his F16 career ‘Dagger322’ was planned for runway 18R with heavy foggy conditions.

When preparing my filmequipment I got a call by satcom they got diverted to runway 18C.

Captain Reinder finally got a manual landing and showed up out of the fog just in front of the landinglichts.

After vacating the runway some nice conversations also with a responding former Airforce Pilot from flight KL787. ‘Dagger-322’ taxying for final stand F5.
