Captain Robert-Jan Minderhout made his last flight due to retirement at KLM.

His good friend and retired KLM Captain Jos Gielen arranged the capturing of his last movements at Schiphol Airport.

A last flight with destination Capetown.

On this flight Robert-Jan got assisted by first officers Thijs Spuybroek and Ben Datema as his ‘Wingmen’.

Flight KL597, callsign KLM105-Heavy, stand G5 and initially planned for runway 36C.

However they got recleared to runway 36L. And so I got in a hurry to reach a right spot to film the departure.

KL597 got operated with a B777-300ER reg PHBVB.

Returnflight KL598, callsign KLM104-Heavy, got runway 18R for landing.

On short final the weathercircumstances changed dramatically with hail and lots of rain.

However……….the landing was a nice one.

After vacating the runway taxying to final stand F9 with the B777-300ER reg PHBVF.
