Friday 23rd of october Captain Eugene Mannot and FO Peter Westerneng operated their final 747 flight. Captain Mark van der Hum was also on board. Flight KL893 on stand Echo77 with a pushback by ATD Jan Arts and assisted by ATD ‘Bokito’ . Sunday the 25th of October they approached Schiphol for the very last time on a 747. They got a flybye circuit withthe PH-BFV and went through the rainshowers above Haarlem. They got the most phenomenal weatherconditions and background to operate a final flight. Chief Pilot Paul vd Ven was honoured to operate the last operational 747 flight. It would be the very very last 747 flight in KLM history during the flightoperations of KLM. In view of the 90% decline in flights and anticipated future capacity, KLM previously decided in early March that it would phase out its remaining Boeing 747s in April 2020, instead of in the summer of 2021.
