Captain Jan Bons made his last 747 flight and retirementflight together at one retourflight to Curacao. In view of the 90% decline in flights and anticipated future capacity, KLM previously decided in early March that it would phase out its remaining Boeing 747s in April 2020,instead of in the summer of 2021. Actually  Jan would retire in September 2020………….but now he was able to celebrate his retirementflight on his beloved B747 , however during weird circumstances. Captain Vikash Badal made his last flight on the B747. A retourflight to CUR-Curacao KLM decided taking out of service all B747’s  due to the current circumstances caused by the coronadisaster. Flight KL735 with callsign KLM129-Heavy  departing on the 19th of March and operated with the B747-Fullpax reg PH-BFN. Because of the low forecast there was a nice setting for filming his last 747 departure on RWY 36L. First Repatriationflight PBM // KL714 @ Cpt Eric Akker // FO Sabine den Hollander

Captain Eric Akker,First Officer Sabine den Hollander and crew where grounded at PBM for some days after a lockdown at Surinams airspace. Tuesday the 17th of March they did fly back to Amsterdam as the first repatriationflight from PBM to AMS. With a delay they arrived at 9.36am and came final for RWY18R. Captain ‘Jambo-Marc’ ,as called by his colleagues, made his retirementflight to Nairobi and back to Amsterdam. Together with First Officer Martijn de Witte, he departed with flight KL565 at runway 18L.(28-7-2018) His last landing with an arrival at runway 18R at 7am in the morning.
